Monday, December 10 Advent Reflection
The Bible tells us Jesus had a diligent and regular prayer practice. As a devout Jew, he would have used the book of psalms in his prayer, so we can trust that he used the very words in this psalm to connect with God, his Father. When we pray, we make the same connection with our Father, which brings joy because it helps us trust that everything is in God’s hands — that in the end, God will make everything right. Joy comes from knowing that whatever happens, we are safe in God’s love.
Spend one minute with these same words that Jesus used and pray for some part of the world that is broken and needs mending. It could be a situation in your own life that needs kindness and truth, or an issue in a faraway place that needs justice and peace — ask for God’s care for the people involved, and trust in His love.
