Thursday, December 6 Advent Reflection
For us in the northern hemisphere, this is the darkest time of the year. The days are running shorter and we notice the darkness creeping in. Light is so important for life, the diminishing daylight even affects our bodies and metabolisms and moods.
Many people walk in a different kind of darkness regardless of the time of year — depression and anxiety, addictions and family dysfunction to name just a few. Our friendship and compassion — even if we’re feeling broken, ourselves (perhaps especially then) — bring light to others. It is a sign to them of God’s love.
What is one negative situation or relationship that you will face today? What might be a small step you could take to bring light to that darkness?
