Grotto Invites You to #SeekChristmas This Advent
Everyone knows the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas comprise the “holiday season” — it’s a time when we gather with family and friends and co-workers, when we acknowledge others with gifts, and maybe even reach out to others in need. It’s a time to find the best in ourselves and let it shine.
So often, these weeks pass in a blur of shopping lists, parties, store lines, and food and drink. If you want to slow down a little and use this time more carefully and intentionally, consider joining our Advent practices here.
Catholics observe Advent as a four-week season of preparation for Christmas — in fact, it’s one of the most ancient traditions we share. It’s a time to prepare room in our hearts to more fully celebrate the coming of Jesus Christ. Yes, we all know Jesus was born as a baby in a manger 2,000 years ago. But that event hasn’t stopped — it’s still going on. Jesus is still coming into our world today — as the fullness of God’s love, Jesus is part of our daily, lived experience.
So, during this year’s season of Advent, Grotto invites you to #SeekChristmas. Follow along with our 2018 Advent calendar: every day has a reflection prompt or action to help you make room in your heart to better recognize the presence of God’s love and to share that love with other people. Each week is organized around a theme, because we know that when we #SeekChristmas together, we’ll renew hope, experience joy, share gifts, and find peace.
