Lenten Recipes to Show Solidarity
Catholics are encouraged to fast or abstain from meat on Fridays, especially during Lent. Fasting from meat on Fridays during Lent helps us “acquire a mastery over our instincts and freedom of heart.”(CCC 2043). Fasting is meant to free us.
As kids, many of us probably associate ‘meatless Fridays’ with fish sticks or mac’n’cheese. But for the past few years, Catholic Relief Services has published simple, meatless meal recipes from different countries around the world.
It’s “an opportunity to eat while living in solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the world,” CRS explains.
Check out the recipes below for Lenten meal inspiration — or keep it up all year round!
