God ate
He bit into bread and roasted lamb and
tasted the sweet and the bitter
He sipped wine
and held it on his tongue
to discern the notes
I eat slow, too
finding gratitude in every morsel, as He did
when He gathered with friends
around an old, worn table
and savored the gift of creation
with taste buds just like mine
