God ate

He bit into bread and roasted lamb and

tasted the sweet and the bitter

He sipped wine

and held it on his tongue

to discern the notes

I eat slow, too

finding gratitude in every morsel, as He did

when He gathered with friends

around an old, worn table

and savored the gift of creation

with taste buds just like mine
