April 25 is the feast day of St. Mark the Evangelist, who tradition holds wrote the Gospel of Mark, the shortest of the four accounts of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection.
We believe Mark was one of the 70 disciples sent out by Jesus during his ministry, that he traveled with Peter after Pentecost, and was the bishop of Alexandria after he brought Christianity there. He is often called the founder of Christianity in Africa.
Mark is most often depicted holding his Gospel or with lions.
He is the patron saint of barristers, Venice, and Egypt. Get to know this saint who personally knew Jesus through our Spotify playlist inspired by his life and legacy.
