November 25 is the Feast of Christ the King, and the end of the Catholic liturgical year.

Considering we are only a few weeks away from celebrating Jesus coming into the world as a tiny baby, what is the significance of celebrating Him as a king? This day reminds us of two key points: Jesus is the “king of kings,” and we are destined for the kingdom of God.

When Pope Pius XI instituted the feast in 1925, he wanted to remind the faithful that while governments and philosophies come and go, Christ reigns as king forever. And we are all called to transform the world to look more like the kingdom of Heaven. As Pope Francis wrote in Evangelii Gaudium, "The Gospel is about the kingdom of God; it is about loving God who reigns in our world. To the extent that he reigns within us, the life of society will be a setting for universal fraternity, justice, peace and dignity."

Celebrate this feast through our Spotify playlist inspired by Jesus as our king and our call to live in His kingdom — featuring artists Page CXVI and Dermot Kennedy, and themes of hope and glory.
