Stephen Landy: My name is Stephen Landy. I volunteer with Engineers Without Borders, Notre Dame. We're an organization that works to meet communities' most basic needs using engineering solutions.
To get involved in service, I really didn't do anything my freshman year to give back, and I realized going into my sophomore year that I wanted a little more out of my college experience than I was getting.
You're really no less valuable if you decide to stay here. That's just as important, and we need all those people who stay here.
More than realizing that I have this incredible opportunity to get an engineering education at Notre Dame, it's just really cool to me to be able to use what I am learning right now to help other people.
I guess, a little bit selfishly, it gives me a lot of confidence knowing that I can actually confront these real-world problems, and my education can take me beyond the classroom.
