Grotto’s Slack channel recently blossomed with an interesting exchange about emojis.
It all took place as we near World Emoji Day on July 17 — Grotto’s social media manager, Emily Mentock, was proposing that we publish a story to celebrate the role emojis play in our social communication. Grotto’s editor, Josh Noem, had concerns about emojis degrading the value of the written word.

“Words should be precise” vs “sharing a feeling”
