Listen to these songs inspired by the life of Dorothy Day, AKA a "servant of God".

Dorothy Day (1987 - 1980) was a writer, activist, and model of hospitality. Much of her life involved using her gifts and talents to focus on service toward the poor and outcast.

Dorothy converted to the Catholic faith at age 30 and shortly after she helped co-found the Catholic Worker Movement. Through the Catholic Worker, Dorothy and the others she inspired provided a haven for those in need: food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, personal connection and conversation for the lonely, and more.

Dorothy was a mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She loved beautiful music — especially opera — and the seaside. She had a fiery personality and was sometimes criticized for her decisions and opinions, but through it all, she stayed focused on the work she felt called to do.

Because of her bold example, she has been named a “Servant of God,” the first step toward canonization as a saint.

This playlist is inspired by Dorothy’s life. It highlights the great love she shared with all she encountered and the faith that carried her through both the good and troubling times.
