Katlynn Kennedy: My name is Katlynn Kennedy, and I am a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children and that is CASA for short.

CASAs are volunteers who are trained to be a voice in court for children that are facing abuse and neglect cases.

The main point is to really get that background story from the child's perspective. So we meet with teachers, we meet with service providers. Anything and everything that we can do to build the best case to tell that judge what we think is truly in the child's best interest.

In finding out ways you can get involved. And it's not hard. It's absolutely not hard, it's really easy to find because there are so many kids that just, they want help. And they want someone that they can look up to. And I think we all have unique contributions that we can give to these kids, whether it's "I've been there," or "I'm someone that can help you get to where you want to go." The little things really are big things for these kids, because sometimes they don't have anyone to look up to.
